IN MEMORIUM
Honoring Our Legacy
Co-Founder: Craig Cornell Tarler
In the late 1970s, Craig Cornell Tarler transformed his horse farm into a research facility for the production of defibrinated sheep blood—an idea that became the foundation of LAMPIRE Biological Laboratories. His entrepreneurial vision and willingness to embrace opportunity launched what would grow into a leading life science organization.
Craig brought Gregory F. Krug on as a partner in the company’s early days, forming not only a strong business relationship but a lasting mentorship and friendship. His leadership, integrity, and belief in hard work established the values that continue to guide LAMPIRE’s growth and success.
Craig passed away on September 4, 2012, in Valdese, North Carolina. In honor of his legacy, June 2 is recognized as LAMPIRE Biological Laboratories’ Founder’s Day—a tribute to a dedicated and respected leader whose vision continues to inspire us today.

Supporters, Board Members, Loving Parents, Mentors
Frank and Joyce Krug
Frank and Joyce Krug, parents of LAMPIRE Co-Founder and President Gregory F. Krug, instilled in their family strong core values of hard work, togetherness, and a deep love of animals—especially dogs and horses. Frank operated a construction company, while Joyce worked as a realtor on Long Island. Greg spent many hours working alongside both parents, performing a wide range of manual labor.
Frank encouraged Greg to pursue his passion and supported his decision to attend Delaware Valley College to earn an undergraduate degree in Animal Science. Joyce served LAMPIRE as a founding Board Member and Treasurer for more than thirty-eight years. Both supported Greg as listeners and mentors over the years, sharing with Greg their wisdom and life experiences.
LAMPIRE is eternally indebted to Frank and Joyce Krug for their unconditional love, guidance, and mentorship in shaping Greg and helping LAMPIRE become what it is today.
Friend, Advisor, Consultant, Mentor
John Daniel Brett
In addition to his absolutely brilliant financial mind, Danny shared with Greg his sense of humor, strong values and his philosophy of life - the importance of family, friends, and good health. Danny could find the best, even in the worst of situations, always with a laugh and a warm smile!
LAMPIRE is deeply appreciative for Danny, his office staff and his family for their expertise, compassion and overall positive impact on LAMPIRE over the years.
Animal Advocate, Veterinarian, Friend, Mentor
John “Doc” Emerson, VMD.
John "Doc" Emerson was introduced to Gregory F. Krug in the 1970's. A licensed Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine, DVM, Doc joined LAMPIRE as a staff veterinarian and worked side by side with Greg to keep animal care at the forefront of their business model. Together they worked tirelessly to grow LAMPIRE into the company that it is today.
There are many fun stories that involve sitting on the porch at the Ottsville Farm that include Doc and Greg. YES, WE CAN was a favorite phrase for both of them. As legend has it, there hasn't been a situation these two haven't found their way into or out of when they set their minds to it! Doc served as Staff Veterinarian to LAMPIRE for over four decades.
Known for his wisdom, storytelling, and deep compassion, especially for donkeys, Doc was respected by generations of clients and colleagues. LAMPIRE is indebted to Doc and will be forever grateful for his significant role and the impact he had in the development and growth of LAMPIRE.
Visionaries, Teachers, Farmers, Mentors
Elliott and Mildred Myers
In the 1970s, Elliott and Mildred Myers took a chance on a young entrepreneur. With only a few years of experience, LAMPIRE Co-Founder and President Gregory F. Krug approached them about renting space on their 39-acre farm in Ottsville, PA. When they said yes, none of them could have known that this leap of faith would provide exactly what Greg needed to firmly establish LAMPIRE as a raw material provider.
Elliott and Mildred welcomed Greg like family—sharing meals with stories of their life experiences, helping Greg set up a small lab, and always offering encouragement. As a skilled mason and farmer, Elliott helped Greg build multiple barns and taught him tricks of the trade on raising livestock and growing crops. Later, the Myers sold Greg their farm, which was the spark that would propel LAMPIRE’s future growth.
Greg’s relationship with Elliott and Mildred reflects what can happen when ingenuity and perseverance come together. LAMPIRE is eternally grateful to Elliott and Mildred, whose faith in Greg’s vision, along with their teachings, work ethic, kindness, and support, were foundational to the development of both Greg and LAMPIRE.
