Pennsylvania SITES grant announcement
LAMPIRE was proud to participate in Governor Josh Shapiro’s first Pennsylvania SITES grant announcement, held in Bedford County. The event highlighted the Commonwealth’s commitment to supporting economic development in rural communities.
Gregory F. Krug, LAMPIRE President & CEO and member of the Bedford County Development Association (BCDA) Board, attended the event and had the opportunity to engage directly with Governor Shapiro and Rick Siger, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development (DCED). The Governor addressed attendees on the importance of strategic investments in rural regions and their role in fostering long-term economic growth. As part of the $64 million awarded across Pennsylvania, Bedford County received a $2.8 million grant to develop Areas I and II of a 151-acre site into the Bedford County Business Park III. This significant investment will support infrastructure improvements and attract new business opportunities to the region.
LAMPIRE would like to extend sincere appreciation to Bette Slayton, BCDA President & CEO; Jeff Crist, BCDA Board Chair; and the entire BCDA team for their leadership and dedication in advancing this important initiative.
Additionally, LAMPIRE welcomed Michael O’Rourke, Eric Bitar, and Michael Gerber from DCED Team PA to its Everett farm and laboratory on Friday, May 9. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss potential collaborations and explore ways the state can continue supporting LAMPIRE’s growth and innovation.
