FOUNDER:
Craig Cornell Tarler
In the late 1970s, Craig Cornell Tarler transformed his horse farm into a research facility for the production of defibrinated sheep blood—an idea that became the foundation of LAMPIRE Biological Laboratories. His entrepreneurial vision and willingness to embrace opportunity launched what would grow into a leading life science organization.
Craig brought Gregory F. Krug on as a partner in the company’s early days, forming not only a strong business relationship but a lasting mentorship and friendship. His leadership, integrity, and belief in hard work established the values that continue to guide LAMPIRE’s growth and success.
Craig passed away on September 4, 2012, in Valdese, North Carolina. In honor of his legacy, June 2 is recognized as LAMPIRE Biological Laboratories’ Founder’s Day—a tribute to a dedicated and respected leader whose vision continues to inspire us today.

Gregory F. Krug
LAMPIRE is privately held and led by President and Owner Gregory F. Krug, whose vision has guided the company for nearly five decades. Supporting him is a team of experienced Vice Presidents and senior executives, many of whom have been with LAMPIRE for over 30 years.
This executive leadership team provides strategic direction, operational oversight, and long-term planning, ensuring that every aspect of LAMPIRE’s operations—from animal care to production and client services—meets the highest standards of quality and integrity. They are supported by technical advisors and IACUC members who uphold scientific rigor and regulatory compliance throughout the organization.
With decades of combined experience, LAMPIRE’s executive team exemplifies stability, expertise, and a commitment to advancing the life sciences while maintaining the company’s reputation as a trusted partner in research and biopharmaceutical innovation.
